Sartell Girls Basketball Upsets Bemidji 65-49

The Sartell-St. Stephen girls basketball team defeated 3rd seeded Bemidji 65-49 Wednesday afternoon at Williams Arena in Minneapolis in the Class 3A State Tournament quarterfinals.  Haley Guetter led the Sabres with 21 points and Andrea Whitney added 19 points for Sartell.  The Sabres led by 4 at halftime and quickly opened up a double digit lead in the 2nd half.  Sartell held Bemidji top scorer Kayla Hirt to 11 points.  She had been averaging 26.5 points a game.  Sartell will play 2nd seeded Benilde-St. Margaret's at 2pm today in the Class 3A State tournament semfinals at Target Center, hear the game on WJON with the pregame at 1:50.
