SCSU Men's Basketball Wins NSIC Tourney; Seeded 4th in NCAAs
The St. Cloud State men's basketball team won their 2nd straight NSIC tournament title by beating 8th seeded Southwest Minnesota State 68-67 at Halenbeck Hall Sunday afternoon. The win gives the Huskies the automatic berth into the NCAA tournament and eliminates upset minded Southwest Minnesota State from taking the conference's automatic berth. Matt Schneck led SCSU with 16 points and 14 rebounds and Taylor Witt added 18 points. St. Cloud State is 25-5 and is seeded 4th in Central Region in the NCAA Division II tournament and will face 5th seeded Metro State of Denver at 8:30pm Saturday night in Mankato in the first round. Minnesota State-Mankato is the #1 seed in the region and will play 8th seeded Colorado School of Mines, #3 Augustana will play #6 New Mexico Highlands, and #2 Mesa State plays #7 Winona State.
