The Twins held off the White Sox Tuesday night to win 6-5 in the 2nd game of the 4-game series.
Minnesota surged ahead in the 5th inning on Justin Morneau's bases clearing 3-run double. Joe Mauer added a 2-4 night with 2 RBIs and Carlos Gomez went 3-3 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI for the Twins. Glen Perkins threw the first 6 innings with 7 hits and 4 earned runs allowed to get the win and improve to 8-3. Joe Nathan pitched the 9th inning with 1 earned run allowed to get the save, his 29th. Minnesota improves to 59-47 and are now just 1/2 game back of the White Sox for first place in the American League Central. The Twins will host the White Sox again tonight at 7:10, pregame on WJON at 6:40. Righthander Livan Hernandez (10-7) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and righthander Gavin Floyd (10-6) toes the rubber for the White Sox.
